Pullman Phuket Panwa Hosts Royal Sea Turtle Release Ceremony

Phuket, Thailand, March 19, 2025 / TRAVELINDEX / Pullman Phuket Panwa Hotel was honored to have been selected as the venue for the Royal Sea Turtle Release Ceremony, which took place on March 14, 2025. The event was held in gratitude to His Royal Highness Prince Dipangkorn Rasmijoti and celebrated the conservation of marine life, a cause deeply embedded in Thai culture and values.

The Royal Sea Turtle Release Ceremony underscored Thailand’s commitment to marine biodiversity preservation, focusing on the protection of endangered sea turtle populations. This prestigious event was a significant milestone in raising awareness about environmental stewardship in the region and beyond.

As part of the ceremony, a special sea turtle release activity was held to return two green sea turtles to their natural habitat. These turtles had been raised under the care of His Royal Highness Prince Dipangkorn Rasmijoti Maha Vajirottamangkura Sirivibulya Rajakumarn, who personally named them ‘Poseidon,’ aged 2 years and 6 months, and another sea turtle that had been rescued and named by the Department of Natural Resources, ‘Prommin,’ aged 3 years. Through this remarkable occasion, Pullman Phuket Panwa reinforced its dedication to sustainability and community engagement, two pillars of its global philosophy. The hotel’s perfect blend of natural beauty and contemporary design made it an idyllic venue for such a meaningful event.

Following the release, the resort organized a sustainable workshop tour around the lobby area in collaboration with the Department of Marine and Coastal Resources. The tour showcased marine conservation efforts, including a seagrass planting project, beach cleaning activities, a Bamboo shark nursery, and insights into the local dugong population living near the hotel’s beachfront. Additionally, the resort proudly supported the Phuket Marine Biological Center’s dugong observation project, furthering its dedication to protecting marine ecosystems.

For the Sea Turtle Release Event, our General Manager of Pullman Phuket Panwa Beach Resort, Mr. Vincent Delsol, received the prestigious Honorary Insignia: “Cherish the Sea More Than Life” from the Department of Marine and Coastal Resources. This Certificate of Honor recognizes his outstanding dedication, perseverance, and selfless commitment, which have led to significant contributions to the conservation of marine and coastal resources. All participants to the ceremony witnessed the release of several rehabilitated sea turtles into the waters of Phuket, a symbolic act aimed at protecting these majestic creatures and their nesting grounds. The event is expected to inspire individuals and communities worldwide to take a proactive stance toward marine conservation.
